I was a band geek from 6th through 10th grades. Mostly on snare, but I had some time on timpani, bass drum, tri-tom, and a few others. Marching band was kinda fun, in a geeky way. Especially for the drum line.
I played percussion in high school band. Does that count?

Sure! But I am not going to call myself a trumpet player. 
Actually, Middle School was trumpet. High School was Baritone Horn and Bass Guitar.
