Baroness - The Blue Record.

Thick, sludgy, and delicious.
Just the right amount of fuzzy guitars, smooth licks, chanting vocals and thunderous percussions to satisfy any fan of metal, rock or even blues.

Have you seen the episode of American Dad where Stan meets their lead singer? (Josh, I watched it with Mr. Tyc and he told me how much you like them.)

Not afraid to say how much I love Vampire Weekend. In some circles, they have a bad reputation for being indie schlock, or just rich white kids who wear sweaters and think it's cool to sing about Ivy League privilege. This album sounds like Paul Simon's "Graceland." It's that good. I enjoy their first album more as it's a bit more varied, but Contra takes risks. Their instrumentation is unique and I love their mild world music influences, not to mention their critique of upper-middle-class sensibilities. (It takes guts to rebel against what you know, I don't care who you are.) This band takes risks-- an unknown band would get so much credibility for doing what VW does, and you could say the same for a major "world music" act as well. Give these white kids a chance.

OK, it's almost a couple of years old now, but I love all the stuff they've released. This gets played all the time on public radio around where I live. Mostly between segments on NPR.

Aye, this is My Morning Jacket. This CD, "Z", was released in 2006 and sense then I have loved every minute of it. Not one bad song on the entire album. Best Jam band ever.

Anyway, that episode of American Dad made me laugh so hard. The part with the lamas? genius.
